1954:
Artdeans, Swindon founded
Mr Arthur Pullen initially sells bicycles. The business progressed
rapidly to powered motorcycles with Artdeans becoming an established
part of the local community.
1980’s: Second to none
During the 1980's with Glyn's father (affectionately known as "Bingo"
to his family and friends) expansion became inevitable with Artdeans
going from strength to strength. And Artdeans develop into the largest
motorcycle retailer in the Swindon area.
1990: Moving on
Artdeans remained a family owned business until 1990. Later that
year it became part of the larger Fowlers group, another family
run business, but the local community never forgot the name of Artdeans.
2001:Back in Town
The clock has turned full circle and Glyn Pullen, the grandson
of the founder of Artdeans, Arthur Pullen, along with Andy
Cuss, a long time employee of Artdeans and later Fowlers, decided
to put the name of "Artdeans" back on the Swindon map.
2002:
Return to 207
Artdeans return to 207 Rodbourne Road and Glyn Pullen and Andy Cuss, move
back to the corner of Rodbourne Road and Redcliffe Street. The spiritual
home of Artdeans.
2007:
We continue to grow
Having now settled in our famous Rodbourne Road residence, we continue to grow as one of the most respected names in Swindon for providing a high quality and friendly service for the biking community in Wiltshire and beyond. Who amongst you remember the original slogan? "We got the bikes you wanna ride, we got the gear you wanna wear"
